BIG NEWS FOR Y’ALL AND SUNDRY

03 Oct 2019

While you’ve all been busy putting Balstock 2019 to the back of your blissful memories, the Balstock committee have been tying up, throwing up and chasing up loose ends.

We’re now ecstatic to announce our grand total raised this year, breaking all past records, comes to a whopping £12,500 – to be equally divided between our 5 local charities Luna Animal RescueEssex & Herts Air AmbulanceDarcie’s WishMind in Mid Herts & Baldock Sports Facility.

This money has come from Balstock’s fundraisers, bucket collections at Balstock, donations from the public, the Balstock raffle , our traders and Baldock’s publicans.

Also extra help came from:

Tyler’s of Baldock barbershop – who missed a weekend’s trade to raise £140 doing ‘G hair’ on the High Street

Rob Scahill & The Orange Tree, Baldock quiz – who raised £120 and also gave us free sausage and mash and took our extra rubbish

Baldock Beer Festival – for donating £210 through 420 plastic glasses sold

DB Sharp and Sons Ltd for sponsoring our T-shirts

Kuzu Kitchen Baldock – for feeding our reps

Adam O’Sullivan & Old White Horse for an extra £100 donation

Mr I. White for his £300 donation

Moorleys Barbers for supplying Iron Man to shake a bucket

Kish from Baldock Post Office – £50 donation

Baldock Pizza – £20 donation

Baldock Kebab – £20 donation

Whitehorse convenience store – £20 donation

[If I’ve missed anyone let me know and I’ll add them]

Once again cheers to all volunteers, Balstock reps, musicians and especially my adorable, long suffering committee who work 8 to 9 months of the year with no pay at all!!! Give respect

In addition to this, we have also supplied Brandles School with a drum kit (courtesy of Deborah Wildish) and raised an additional £369 for Team Super Seraph earlier in the year.

IN OTHER NEWS

I know a lot of you are apprehensive about if Balstock will take another year off. I will admit that the year off was much needed and gave us a taste of what it’s like to actually have a stress free summer holiday! So we feel the fairest thing we can do for the Town and (more importantly) our committee member’s sanity is to do Balstock Music Festival – 2 years on and 1 year off. So we’re back with a bang 2020, but come 2021 and 2024 we’ll be putting our trotters up and recharging for the next event. Sound fair?
